With such critically acclaimed records as 1972, Nashville and Subtitulo (the first for his own Bedroom Classics label) in his arsenal, soulful singer/songwriter Josh Rouse warms up the summer of 2007 with his 7th full length release, Country Mouse, City House. The title, similar to Aesop’s tale, was conceived during a 70-mile trek through the north of Spain last fall. Recorded in six days in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain, the songs reflect a mixture of mellow, baroque pop tunes with touches of soul and plenty of laid-back orchestration, all the while keeping their solf edges of '70's AM Radio pop. Yet in his capable hands, nothing is stale or redundant. Country Mouse, City House is a pure and original and a powerful addition to a catalog that many consider to be one of this generations finest singer-songwriter. |
